Park Construction Resuming, Gardener Planning Meeting & Potluck, and More

Green for the Greater Good

This Newsletter includes updates on new construction activities for the new park at the former Rodney Reservoir, a new date for the garden planning meeting and potluck and more!

WHO WE ARE: Green for the Greater Good is a group of neighbors working to transform the Rodney Reservoir into a beautiful nature-focused park for all to enjoy.

1. PARK CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AND OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

Spring is coming and construction activities are resuming at the site of the former Rodney Reservoir. Expect to see work crews planting trees soon. After the trees, the meadow plants will follow. The City is planning some volunteer days to allow community members to participate in both phases of the plantings. One event will be focused on school participation and another event will be open to all. Stay tuned for more information!

2. COMMUNITY GARDEN PLANNING MEETING & POTLUCK SET FOR MARCH 9!

All are welcome to join the Gardener Planning Meeting, Potluck, Seed Swap with Open Gym this Sunday, March 9 from 5-7 PM at West End Neighborhood House at 710 N. Lincoln. Let’s meet up  to plan for the relaunch of the community garden! Bring a dish to share, seeds to swap, bring family and friends to enjoy the gym, and let’s talk about the commitments and preparations that will make our community garden a success.  RSVP encouraged but not required for this free event. RSVP at this link.

3. NEW PARK, NEW NAME?

Have you ever thought that the new park at the former Rodney Reservoir should get a new name? We have not heard anything about the City's plans for the name of the park, but we have heard from a lot of community members who think it's time for a change. Let's discuss! Please share your thoughts and ideas at this link, and we will report what we hear back out to the community.

4. SIGN UP TO RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW TO REGISTER FOR A GARDEN PLOT

Green for the Greater Good is committed to making sure residents know how to sign up for plots in the new community garden. Sign up here and we will send out information to this list and through our social media channels as soon as we get information about the process.
